School participation in the tree planting action of the Municipality of Thessaloniki
The students of the 4th Grade participated with their families in the tree planting expedition organised by the Municipality of Thessaloniki with the cooperation of the Directorate of Reforestation of Central Macedonia and the Association of Beekeepers of Thessaloniki.
The action aimed at the planting of 1000 trees in the suburban forest of Triandria, which is under construction.
The children participated with great enthusiasm, learned about the appropriate way of planting from the experts who supported the action, and managed to plant dozens of trees with the help of their parents.
The participation in the action is linked to the activities of the ‘Modular CLIL’ project in Environmental Education, and in particular to the ways of restoring forest ecosystems and taking action to protect them. The children were mentally and emotionally motivated, and applied processes of personal development as active citizens.
The action is part of the worldwide tree-planting initiative coordinated by the 5A Class of the Jean Rostand des Herbiers College in France on the occasion of the International Day of Forests 2025.
